My name is Darnetha Davis, I am a 31 year old Entrepreneur; I am from Inkster MI. I started my business in Detroit Michigan called Trap Keno. I am a wife, a mother of three (3) one adopted and guardian of two (2) siblings due to the loss of our parents. My parents decent from Inkster Mi, where coming up in the late 80s and early 90s my parents suffered from the Crack epidemic and drugs put them to rest. I am the oldest girl of nine siblings on my mom side and with 12 siblings on my fathers side. I was raised by my grandmother and Aunt. With addiction being hereditary my aunt had an addiction of her own in which was gambling. During the time of adolescence, growing up from poverty never stopped me from knowing what I wanted out of life. The best way for myself to overcome obstacles was to help my kids future by being informative of the leaders in the black community and to inform them of the roots to not fall into the same issues from past history. I thank God everyday for blessing me with the hard beginning I had to help others realize its not how you grew up because everyone have a story, its how you use your begining to better your future and the ones around you. I have a purpose and my life is not my own, my goal is to show black women around the world we can set our own tone, we can do all things, all you have to do is believe in yourself.
I attended Robichaud High School in Dearborn Heights where sports was my escape from the reality of home. Always being in a leadership position I was cheerleading captain, leader on the track team was the first person to be in the newspaper in my family for sports. After graduation I continued education receiving an associates degree from Wayne County Community College and being excepted into the school of Business at the University Of Michigan. School and work became a lot for a new mother of two. Six months after having my first child I was forced to adopt my biological sister due to drug addiction and abandonment of my mother. So I went on to do something that came very easy to me; HAIR. I received a cosmology license from Dorsey School of beauty and spent thousands of dollars on a license I do not use. it spent years figuring out my passion but now im here!
Coming from a large family there was always needs, at the age of eight (8) I learned how to braid and that was something that I used to support my family. There where nights my aunt didn't come home due to being at the casino all night and her husband would be working long hours to keep a roof over our head; I would use my skill of doing hair to support my family. After struggling to graduate from U Of M I dropped out and went to Dorsey School of beauty to get my license for hair. With me being so determined to find what I want out of life I even tried to be a Fire Fighter 3 times. I took what's called the CPAT test made it through the end and ran out of time. It took so many obstacles for me to find my calling but eventually I did!
